Sentosa Island -Singaphore
Sentosa Island
Sentosa is a popular island
resort in Singapore. Singapore isn't exactly known as a beach destination, but
Sentosa has a 2 km long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, the
Merlion, 14 hotels, and the Resorts World Sentosa, featuring the theme park
Universal Studios Singapore.
Siloso Beach is a good spot
for getting in beach time, and visitors can play volleyball on free courts or
go kayaking and skim-boarding. There are several other beach attractions as
well, plus an Underwater World aquarium where you can swim with dolphins.
A
must-see on Sentosa Island is the Merlion, Singapore's famous statue that has
the head of a lion and the body of a fish. You can take an escalator to the top
of the statue, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Fort Siloso,
the country's only preserved fort, is also located on Sentosa Island.
Adventurous types will want to check out The Flying Trapeze and the SeaBreeze
Water-Sports, where you can try your hand at flying strapped to a water-propelled
jet pack.
Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is
Southeast Asia's first Hollywood movie theme park. There are seven movie-themed
zones, and each is uniquely designed. You will find the renowned Hollywood Walk
of Fame at the Hollywood zone, and as you venture into New York, the landscape
evolves into impressive city skylines, including a mock-up of a subway
entrance.
The Ultimate 3D Battle makes
you to move on to Ancient Egypt and face mummies and scarab beetles on an
indoor roller coaster in total darkness.
The young ones will love the
Shrek 4-D Adventure at Far Far Away. This fun cinematic experience allows you
to physically feel the action of the movie.
S.E.A. Aquarium
At the S.E.A. Aquarium, you
can observe more than 100,000 creatures like the leopard shark, goliath grouper
and squadrons of manta rays.
The park houses two
attractions, the S.E.A Aquarium in which visitors marvel at more than 800
species of marine animals from magnificent sharks to rarely sighted fish through
our planet’s largest window to the ocean and the Adventure Cove Waterpark, a
tropical paradise with an escapade for everyone.
Tiger Sky Tower
The Tiger Sky Tower,
previously known as Carlsberg Sky Tower, is the highest observation tower in
Singapore which offers panoramic views across Singapore. The tower has a height
of 110 m above ground level. At ground level, visitors enter a large
disc-shaped air-conditioned cabin fitted with glass windows all round. The
cabin revolves slowly for views as it ascends the tower.
From the top one can view the
entire length of Singapore's skyline and a panoramic view of the island. On a
clear day, one may even be able to see at part of Johor Bahru and Indonesia's
skyline.
The Tiger Sky Tower has a
capacity of 72 people in the cabin. The day and night views from the Tiger Sky
Tower promise to be both scenic and breathtaking.
