Tagum is a 1st class city and
capital of the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2015
census, it has a population of 259,444 people. It is the most populous
component city in Mindanao. It is one of top most livable
cities in the Philippines, and was one of the finalists in Most Child Friendly
City in the Philippines – Component Category along with Laoag, and Talisay,
Cebu.
Tagum, a component city in
Davao del Norte, has been named “The City of Palms” because trees of such kind

1. Night Market
The city transforms into a sea
of crowd at night as people flock to six streets in Tagum to experience the
nightlife. Tagumeños are known for our

streets around the Trade Center transform into a grilling paradise.

filled with fresh meat and seafood, the aroma wafting through the air as you

2. Energy Park
The 27 hectare Park located in
the urban Barangay of Apokon, is definitely a mirror of the city’s love for a
greener environment. This place was once
a swampy area predominantly covered by secondary old-growth trees and inhabited
by wild animals. This was developed into a Leisure Park to provide aesthetic
values as well as socio-economic and environmental values. The park, which has

3. CHRIST THE KING CATHEDRAL
The Christ the King Cathedral
in Tagum, Davao del Norte is the biggest cathedral in the Philippines and where
the world’s largest and longest Rosary can be found. The cathedral sits on a 2
hectare donated land at the corners of Gonzales Avenue and Sobrecary Street in
Magugpo, South of Tagum City (about 53 kilometers north of Davao City).
It was
in built in 1993 solely from donations and took 12 years to finish, just in
time for the celebration of the silver anniversary of the Diocese of Tagum City
in 2005.
4. TAGUM CITY RIVER CRUISE
An exciting 8.8-kilometer
river cruise is the newest addition to the City of Tagum’s wide array of
must-see destinations.
The Tagum City River Cruise
was officially launched in a simple yet meaningful ceremony held July 30, 2011 at Punong Restaurant which aimed to
preserve the “wetlands of the city” and
boost the city’s eco- tourism
drive.
The two-and-a-half hour Tagum
City River Cruise offers distinctive
features such as the sight of
century-old mangroves and will take visitors to an inspiring nature hug, embracing the wonders
of the Mangrove Forest Conservation.
The River Cruise jumps off
from Punong Restaurant which features
the famous soft-shelled crabs; the Ka’gan Village, which displays Muslim Trades
and Delicacies; the boardwalk observatory which is under the shade of century-old
mangrove trees and lastly, a floating tiangge which
sells packed goodies on a
local gakit.
5. SAN AGUSTIN BOTANICAL PARK
The San Agustin Botanical
Garden is the fifith destination for the city’s eco-tourism. It spurs different
kinds of tree/plant species from different tropical countries in the world in
the world giving balance to the highly urbanized development of Tagum and
keeping the pollution out of the city’s progression.
To date there are ONE
HUNDRED FORTY FIVE (145) TREE/PLANT SPECIES planted from different parts of the
