HONG KONG – The City that Never Sleeps
HONG KONG – The City that Never Sleeps
1. Victoria Peak
Victoria Peak
is a mountain, known as Mount Austin but locally as the Peak, in the western
half of Hong Kong Island. That view is also what makes The Peak one of the most
popular attractions in Hong Kong. By day your eyes stretch across sparkling
skyscrapers and Victoria Harbor all the way to the green hills of the New
Territories. Looking down at the city from this famous vantage point, you'll
see one of the finest harbors on Earth and a skyline so improbable, audacious
and lofty that Manhattan's looks provincial by comparison. You can reach the
peak via the Peak Tram, the 120-year-old funicular railway that departs from
its terminus on Garden Road.
2. Ladies Market
The Ladies Market is located in the Kowloon
side in the overcrowded district of Mongkok, although quite frequented by
tourists, this has a very "local" atmosphere in what used to be known
as the heartland of the Hong Kong triad gangs. The Ladies Market Hong Kong is
one of the most popular markets for inexpensive bargain-priced clothes and
accessories, and despite its name, it is not only for the ladies, here you will
find a wide variety of men's clothing, and just about all kinds of merchandise
including small household items, electronic gadgets and toys. It gets its name
from the huge amount of clothing and accessories on sale for women of all ages.
3. Tsim Dha Tsui Promenade
Hong Kong Island is one of the finest city
skylines in the world, and the promenade is a lovely place to stroll around
during the day, but during the nightly Symphony of Lights, a spectacular
sound-and-light show involving 44 buildings on the Hong Kong Island skyline. Tsim
Sha Tsui Promenade has a total length of about 1.7 kilometers and it is built
parallel to Salisbury Road.
4. Avenue of Stars
The Avenue of Stars, modelled on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame, is located along the Victoria Harbor waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui,
Hong Kong. It honors celebrities of the Hong Kong film industry. Thanks to the
efforts of Hong Kong’s movie industry over the past century, many in Asia and
farther afield are familiar with the city’s sights before they’ve even set foot
here. The Avenue of Stars pays tribute to the names that helped make Hong Kong
the ‘Hollywood of the East’.
5. Lan Kwai Fong
Lan Kwai Fong, located in central of Hong Kong,
is one of Hong Kong’s most popular nightlife hot spots. The atmosphere ranges
from stylish wine pairings to raucous jelly shots and the food on offer is as
diverse as the clientele. Lan Kwai Fong is dominated by white collar workers
and foreigners. The best time to view its energy is on Friday and Saturday
nights, when it is most crowded with people looking for entertainment.
